Sunday evening walk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

[Ed]: I recently found this post I wrote eight years ago. It’s relevant every year and worth a quick read (sadly not good news for fans of\u00a0Halloween and bonfire night)
\nIt was originally published on 16 October 2010:<\/em><\/p>\n

We leave for North Wales on Halloween. I’ve already been asked a couple of times about dressing up and “Trick or Treating” and the situation is this:
\nOn the Sunday evening we have a lot to do.\u00a0On arrival at KMC, you will:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Have a quick tour of the site<\/li>\n
  • Settle in to your rooms (which takes about 15 minutes)<\/li>\n
  • Meet the duty instructor who will introduce you to the routine around KMC<\/li>\n
  • Eat a meal<\/li>\n
  • Collect lots of specialist equipment for your\u00a0personal\u00a0use during the week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    After all\u00a0that\u00a0(at around 8:00pm) we will start our first outdoor activity. This involves walking from KMC to Dolbadarn Castle. The castle isn’t usually haunted but probably will be that night as it’s Halloween. The walk allows you to test some of the\u00a0equipment\u00a0issued to you previously so there is no option to wear fancy dress; sorry.<\/p>\n

    We do pass through\u00a0the local village of Llanberis on the walk back to KMC but it will be well past Trick or Treat time and, in any case, you really ought to be capable of speaking Welsh to the residents before knocking on their doors (most people living in the village speak Welsh as their first language).<\/p>\n

    As for fireworks; we can’t have any on site and previous trips have been disappointed by the quality of local displays. They aren’t that local either.
