Three outdoor-related prizes were awarded at the school's annual evening
of celebration
on 9 September 2002.
In
the Junior school, Matthew Cousins received the prize for relentless
determination and positive attitude to his own development and that of others.
He has been involved in all the competitions and supported older members
in their adventures into national competitions. Matthew's enthusiasm extends
to the outdoors where his improvement has been dramatic; both physically
and technically.
Tom
Gore was awarded a prize for his acheivements over the last three
years during which he has maintained an astonishing standard and taken
part in a national-level competition.
Many younger climbers have been inspired by his performance and dedication.
Richard
Sharpe also receives a prize. He has had a relatively short climbing
career so far, but his record has been impressive. After coming a fantastic
sixth in his second Junior national final, he went on to compete in the
BICC 2002 round at the Westway, again reaching the final and finishing sixth.
Richard then attended all three rounds of the BBC 2002 in Leeds, Edinburgh
and Birmingham where he made a promising seventh.
