After coming a fantastic sixth in his second Junior national final, he went on to compete in the BICC 2002 round at the Westway, again reaching the final and finishing sixth. Richard then attended all three rounds of the BBC 2002 in Leeds, Edinburgh and Birmingham where he made a promising seventh.
