Summer Round-up

27 August 2006

Many of our climbers have been away sampling the great outdoors (and sometimes the great indoors). Here is a summary of their adventures:
A break in the competition season heralded an attack on the Southern Sandstone. Everyone improved on their previous performances but of particular note are Rhys Barnes-Miller who broke the 6a barrier in style and Matt Cousins, Joel Charley and Tony Musselbrook who between them dispatched several routes in the high sixes.
Tony also visited the bouldering Mecca of Magic Woods in Switzerland where he amazed many by completing two problems graded 8a or above. Tony has just competed in the Climbing World Youth Championships where he finished a creditable 57th.
More recently Matt Cousins flashed The Mau Mau E4 6a on a rain-interrupted visit to North Wales.
