All blogged out (almost)

Well this blog is nearing its conclusion. I have been impressed by the response; both from volunteer posters and visitors to the site. It’s been hard work keeping up with the already hectic schedule of activities but great support from KMC and Dane Court staff (along with numerous budding photographers) has resulted in a unique record of our visit.

The blog has become a centre of interest for the participants here too. Our blogging press office (the KMC lecture room) has been an increasing attraction for those unable to contribute to the unfolding story with numerous group member popping in to see what has been written about their adventures that day.

With groups of students and adult leaders working together over an extended period towards a common objective, many of the reports give a sense of the great relationships that develop on a trip like this. Everyone involved in the week has had a great time despite less-than-ideal weather. They have learned a lot about the area, new activities, each other and, not least, themselves.
I hope this blog shows at least a little of the value a week like this can have for young people.

This site will remain available until at least the end of December 2010 and may even receive further posts. Registered visitors (parents and participants) are very welcome to continue commenting and I will, of course, keep an eye on the site myself.

  1. Congratulations to you all for completing what must have been a challenging but very exciting week.
A huge thanks to Mr Alderson and the other staff and KMC members for organising this wonderful trip and supporting the participants.
Finally a word about the blog. It has been a brilliant success – a wonderful idea and a pleasure to read and look at the superb photos. Thanks to all the contributors who have taken the time and effort to post their experiences -it has really brought the trip to life for those of us back in Thanet.

Take care and a safe journey home.

  2. Hello Mr Alderson,

Thank you for making this wonderful adventure holiday possible for our Dane Court children. Thank you also to the other staff involved. We fully appreciate all the hard work , your extra time and care and encouragement shown throughout the duration of this holiday.

The blogs and photographs have been an ideal way to keep in touch with each days’ events and, in fact, the highlight of our day. Such a good idea!

No doubt this has been a great experience for the children and with GREAT value and influence.

    Thank you, once again.

    Have a safe journey home.

p.s. a big thank you to the driver.

  3. Dear Mr. Alderson, Teachers and the Team at KMC

Thank you so much for the fantastic week that you have provided for our children. The blog has been brilliant and has kept us fully entertained all week. The information has been so well written and really has been “edge of your seat” stuff. The photos are an excellent record of what’s been happening and I only wish I’d had the opportunity to go to KMC when I was at Dane Court – Mr. Alderson, where were you thirty two years ago!

I think we’ve actually become addicted to the blog and my husband commented this morning that, of the 300 visitors per day, 299 of them were probably our family some days!

Have a whack safe journey home – bring me home a zonkey and the showers are waiting!
